In advance of tomorrow's mayoral and city council election, Mauldin Patch is re-publishing our candidate profiles and our recap of the October 4th debate at City Hall. Godbey and Raines have much in common, but begin to emphasize differences
On Monday night, the Republican Women of the Golden Strip played host to Mauldin’s mayoral candidates at the new Stax restaurant on Woodruff Road. Incumbent Don Godbey and challenger Dennis Raines spoke before approximately 30 guests who packed a meeting room at the rear of the restaurant. RWGS President Kaaren Mann moderated the event and asked questions after the candidates’ opening statements. In his introductory remarks, Godbey pointed to, among other things, the city’s improved credit rating during his term, his memberships in various regional groups and the growth fostered through relationships he has developed in the last four years. In partnership with the League of Women's Voters of Greenville County Mauldin Patch is proud to announce candidates' debates for the office of mayor and for two of the three city council seats. Next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall, candidates for Mayor and for Council Seats 4 and 6 will convene to talk about the future of Mauldin. Longtime resident will challenge Don Godbey
At a press conference at 11:30 a.m. today, former city council member Dennis Raines will announce that he is a candidate for mayor of Mauldin against incumbent Don Godbey. Raines has been a long time resident of Mauldin and served on the council from 1996-2001. He is also a volunteer fireman, founder of the Miracle League and former president of Dixie Youth Baseball. The press conference will be held at Mutt's BBQ at 214 East Butler Road.
