New Baseball Travel Team Forming

The new 12U Mavs travel team will be a feeder program to assist players interested in playing ball at the middle and high school levels.

Mauldin High School Baseball is forming a new 12U Mavs travel team for the 2012 season. The program is designed to be a feeder program for Mauldin High School baseball programs. The high schools coaching staff will train and also assist with practices. Tryouts will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Shannon Forest field. Candidates should bring a copy of their birth certificate and gear for hitting and fielding practice. Tryouts will be conducted by Kevin Rushing, Rodger Bollinger and volunteers from the Mauldin High baseball staff. Today Mauldin Honors One of Its Own in Scott Wingo

Former USC star, College World Series MOP is Mauldin through and through

Everybody loves a winner. While this somewhat cynical adage may be true, there are exceptions to the rule. Take Scott Wingo. He was beloved by the city of Mauldin long before he led South Carolina to two consecutive NCAA baseball championships and was named Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series last month. The true depth of that affection will be shown today when Wingo, who is just 22, will have his high school jersey number retired and be presented the key to the city. Mauldin Through and Through Scott’s relationship with Mauldin predates his own existence.
