Big Weekend Ahead for Mavericks

A chance to bring home some hardware

This weekend is shaping up as a big one for Mauldin High School and they prepared in style by having a pep rally today. On Saturday, the girls’ tennis team aims for its 40th straight win and its second straight state championship. Details and directions here. Also on Saturday, both the boys and girls cross country teams compete for state titles in Columbia with the Mavs’ Brittany Williams aiming for an individual title. Boys and Girls Cross Country Advance to States

Girls take first and boys are third

Yesterday was a memorable day for the Coach Delmer Howell's Cross Country teams. In the Upper State Championships the girls finished first and the boys took third. Senior Brittany Williams led the girls, finishing second overall with a time of 18:44. For the boys, Noah LaBelle was the top finisher as he came in fifth with a time of 16:26. Great Day for Mauldin Cross Country

Wins for Coach Howell and the boys

The Mauldin High cross country had a big night last night at Regionals. Coach Delmer Howell was named boys coach of the year and three boys were named All-Region as the team won Regionals. The girls fared pretty well also, finishing second. GoMavs.net has more right here.

High Expectations for Mauldin Cross Country

Both boys and girls ranked high in pre-season poll

The South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association released its preseason poll earlier this week. And the expectations are high for Mauldin. The girls are picked fourth and the boys are picked seventh in Class AAAA (the complete poll can be viewed here). Brittany Williams was also rated the top girl.
