Some stellar play from seven and eight year olds
The Dixie District 1 AA Tournament got under way on Friday on the beautiful Frye Fields at Sunset Park. Players and fans from throughout the Upstate descended on Mauldin for some high-spirited and high-quality baseball. According to tournament director Brad Chiles, Mauldin has hosted the event three years in a row. Game times today are at 3:30 and 5. The eight-team, double elimination tournament continues through Tuesday and potentially Wednesday. Games on Moday and Tuesday begin at 6 and 7:30. The champion and runner-up both advance to the state competition in Dillon.
