Mauldin Miracle League Playground Receives $200,000 Donation

Civitan Club makes the largest gift in club history.

Last week, the Greenville Civitan Club made it possible for any child with a disability to have a place to play in the Upstate.

Making the largest gift in club history, the Civitan Club donated $200,000 to build a new for Mauldin's Miracle League at Sunset Park.

Mauldin's Mayor Dennis Raines, who is also the Director and Founder of the Mauldin Miracle League, said the new playground should be ready by June 2 of this year. Last August, officials announced the plans for the playground.

Raines said, "The Greenville Civitan Club proved once again how committed they are to the Civitan mission statement of 'helping people with
developmental disabilities.'" 

It's not the first Civitan donation to the Miracle League, as the group helped provide a "Cool Zone" to players with severe disabilities keep cooler while they are in the dugout and allow them to play an entire game. After they provided this benefit, they also had an awning installed to help protect the parents and all spectators from the elements in the .
