Simpsonville's Thompson Knocked From Unbeaten Ranks

'Wonderboy' falls in decision to Matt Brown.

Simpsonville native Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson lost for the first time in his fighting career on Saturday evening in Atlanta.

Appearing on the undercard at UFC 145 before the featured match between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, Thomspon dropped a unanimous decision to Matt Brown.

The judges scored it 30-27, 30-27, 29-27 in Brown's favor.

Thompson lost the momentum early to the more experienced Brown, but was able to rally in the second round before Brown regained control in the third and final round.

Thompson's loss moves his MMA record to 6-1. Previously, he had won 20 straight matches as a professional kickboxer and 37 on the amateur circuit.
