Mauldin High School’s Alyssa Johnson honored as a National Achievement Scholarship Finalist

Mauldin High School is proud to announce that Alyssa Johnson has been named a National Achievement Scholarship Semifinalist.  

More than 160,000 high school juniors from the United States requested acceptance in this scholarship program by marking this designation on their PSAT tests. From this number, only approximately 1600 high school seniors have been designated as semi-finalists.

Alyssa is one of four students in Greenville County who has been given the opportunity to compete for the National Achievement Scholarship Award.

Mauldin High School Teacher Wes Dodgens Connects Students through Virtual Learning

On Thursday, September 26,  Mauldin High School Social Studies teacher Wes Dodgens and his WWII History students were able to listen and view an interactive virtual speaker, Dr. Lester Terry. (See photo above)

Dr. Terry was a survivor of the Bataan Death March during WWII and brought his survival story to Mauldin High School students from a video/audio link from the WWII Museum in New Orleans.  

Through the use of technology, Dodgens is providing to his WWII History class a chance to connect, listen, view, and experience a first-hand, powerful account of a significant historical event.
