School Notes: Langston Charter Middle School

Important news and notes from Langston Middle.

Charter High School Information Night – A charter high school information night will be held at Langston Charter Middle School on Monday, October 14, 6:00PM- 7:00PM for eighth graders and their parents. Representatives from the area charter high schools will share the focus and vision of their schools and answers questions.  For more information, contact Kelly Weekes, Director of Campus Affairs, at 864-286-9700.

Langston Charter Middle School Enrollment Lottery for 2014-15 School Year - Prospective parents must attend one of the Application Orientation Meetings and the last one is Monday, October 28 at 7:00PM in the auditorium of Woodruff Road Christian Church - 20 Bell Rd. Greenville, SC 29607.  The application deadline is 4:00PM, November 1 and the lottery will be held on November 12 at 5:00PM at the school.  Applications are available on the website – www.langstoncharter.org.  Call Celanie Martin, Registrar, at 864-286-9700, with questions.

School Tours -  Langston school tours will be offered during the month of October on Tuesdays at 8:45AM and Thursdays at 12:15PM.  There will be no tour on Thursday, October 17, due to the school break.  Tours begin at the school office, last about 45 minutes, and do not require an appointment.  More information can be found at www.langstoncharter.org.  Contact Celanie Martin, Registrar, at 864-286-9700 with questions.

Non-Profit Fair – On Friday, October 11, Langston Charter Middle School will host its annual Non-Profit Fair.  Local non-profit agencies are invited to come to share the vision of their organization, explain what volunteer opportunities they have for students and recruit students to volunteer with their organization.  As part of the vision and core values of Langston, students are trained to explore service opportunities and learn to be contributors to society.  For more information on the non-profit fair or to register your non-profit to be a part of the fair, contact Kelly Weekes, Director of Campus Affairs, at 864-286-9700. 

Basketball Tryouts – Basketball tryouts are October 14 – 16 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church on Woodruff Road.  Girls’ tryouts are 6:00PM – 7:30PM and boys tryouts are 7:30PM – 9:00PM.  Games will begin mid-November and continue through the first week in February.  Contact June Deas at jdeas@langstoncharter.org for more information.
