Red Ribbon Week at Greenbrier and happenings at Bethel

Here's the schedule for Red Ribbon Week at , to be followed 

Monday, October 24 – “Sock it to Drugs”
• Students wear their craziest socks
• Pass out Red Ribbons courtesy of Jersey Mike’s & send home Jersey Mike’s invitation with students Tuesday, October 25 “Walk the Walk.”
• Students walk track to indicate number of years they will remain healthy and drug free.
• Guest will begin reading excerpts from the Red Ribbon Story of Hope book to students on the Morning Show.

Wednesday, October 26– “Team up against Drugs”
• Students wear their favorite college/university team jersey or shirt.
• We will collect canned goods & non-perishable food items and donate to local food pantry (Students can choose which side to place their donation, Clemson Tigers or Carolina Gamecocks on the stage).

Thursday, October 27 –“Turn Your Back on Drugs”
• Students wear their shirts backwards
Friday, October 28 – “I’d Rather Eat Bugs Than Do Drugs”
• Guest Speaker – Upstate Karate
• Teachers will distribute pencils
• Students may dress up as their favorite bug or wear a shirt with bugs on it
• PTA-sponsored BINGO Game Night & Taco Dinner on Friday October, 28th
beginning at 6:00 PM in the nutrition lab. (School Cafeteria)

Other Activities:
Jersey Mike’s Poster Contest is voluntary. Students whom wish to participate will create a poster with a “Say no to drugs” theme. Posters must be turned in to PTA by Tuesday October 25th to be judged. We will have five winning posters to represent our school at a participating Jersey Mike’s location. Customers will then vote for the overall winner for that location and will receive a family meal. The winning posters from each location will be voted on during the Greenville Safe Communities Coalition on November 10th. The Grand Prize winner will
receive a $100 gift card and a sub lunch for their classroom!

Jersey Mike’s Invitation to turn in your red ribbon from October 28th- 30th and receive $3.00 off any sub! And for each red ribbon collected, Jersey Mike’s will donate 50 cents to Greenville Family Partnership!

Roper Mountain Green Halloween – Greenbrier would like to invite our students to the Roper Mountain Green Halloween Friday and Saturday October 28-29 from 4:00- 7:00pm. The event will be held rain or shine. The cost is Children $5.00 for members, $7.00 for non- members and Adults are free. Flyer will go home with students.
“Born to Be Drug Free” guessing game will be held October 24th- October 28th. Guess who the teacher is in the baby pictures displayed outside the media center.

Bethel Elementary

October 28- Bethel’s PTA Fall Dance will be held on Friday, October 28, 6:00-8:00 in the teacher’s parking lot, weather permitting. If it rains it will be held in the cafeteria. Tickets will go on sale at 5:45 pm before the dance. The cost is $5 for students and free for parents. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Pizza and drinks will be available for purchase. Students may wear Halloween costumes, however no scary costumes please.

Library Volunteers Needed!

Do you like books? Do you want to know what children are reading? If so, then we have a job for you! Bethel is looking for volunteers for the media center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (preferably morning hours).
