MHS diamond doings.

If you are a fan of Mauldin baseball and softball, on Wednesday your attentions were pulled in a number of directions.

First the Mauldin High baseball team played (and won) a district title game against TL Hanna.

Not to be outdone, the softball team played (and won) their district title game against Clover. Congratulations to both squads on great years and good luck in Upper States.

Over at Fluor Field in Greenville, Mauldin alum Madison Younginer was again seeking his first win as a Drive pitcher. Younginer pitched well but he was again let down by some wildness on his part and some light hitting by his teammates in a 4-2 loss to Lexington. Younginer was also not helped by two critical errors by the Drive defense.

And finally, out on the West Coast, Mauldin and USC alum Scott Wingo snapped out of a mini-slump by going two-for-four for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in California League action. The Quakes fell 11-6 to Inland Empire.

Wingo smacked two singles, walked, scored a run and drove one home. He is now batting .271 on the year. Wingo's on-base percentage is .386.
