YOUR TAKE: Obamacare Upheld

An end to the divisive topic or just the start?

More than two years after it was signed into law by President Obama, it survived a legal challenge in the highest court in the land, when the Supreme Court upheld the key provisions of the Affordable Health Care Act by a vote of 5-4. Chief Justice John Roberts was in the majority, siding with the justices who constitute the liberal wing.

The breakdown:

In the majority: Kagan, Sotomayor, Bader Ginsburg, Breyer.

In the minority: Alito, Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas.

What are your thoughts on the ruling?

The fact remains that Obama said that is was not a TAX, and now the high court has confirmed that is is a TAX. Just firther proof that Obama lies to the American people. He cannot be trusted. I respect the office of President but not the man holding that office.

The fact remains that because of this law premiums will go down, the Insurance industry can no longer charge more than 20% to pay salaries and lobbiest and campaign contributions. Woman will be treated the same as men, Insurance companies can't drop you when you get sick, children can stay on their parents policies until reaching 26 years old, cost for hospitals will go down now that people with insurance aren't paying for the hospitals losses for treating uninsured. Obama has been honest from the begining about this coverage the only mistake he made was putting through the Repubicans, Mitt Robme and hertage foundations plan, he should have pushed the single payer or Universal health care through. Terry you ranting has no factual data to back it up period, you are just parroting the radical Federalist propaganda. What exactly do you find harmful about it??? The fact that you have to buy insurance and take care of yourself instead of relying on everyone else???? Do tell Terry what is your problem?

Anyone voted in the Obama Administration are fools. I hope you are happy and content with the decision. Premiums and cost of service will not go down. Get ready you Obama fans, pretty soon you and the rest of the country will be told what Doctor to see, what meds will be given, if any and what treatments shall be done. You better hope Obama gets voted out of Office in November, because life as you currently know it will gradually cease to exist. Maybe I should go run for office of the president. This health insurance is nothing but a tax ploy from Obama. Oh yes, think about this: health care has been approved as tax increase, unemployment has not changed enough to make a difference, so who is going to pay for these unemployed citizens health insurance. Surely not them, unemployment doesn't pay enough, so how are these people going to pay for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MANDATED HEALTH INSURANCE (tax increase) for these unfairly unemployed citizens. So they will either have to figure out how to pay for this insurance or how to pay the penalty. Either way, these people still loose. WAY TO GO OBAMA. Still screwing the citizens of the US.

What you did is buy the propaganda that Obama, Reid, Pelosi, etc. sold. They would have you believe that the Republicans were against "everything" in the bill. They were not!! They were against the government taking over healthcare -- the parts of the bill that Pelosi said, "You'll have to pass the bill to find out what's in it!" Republicans would have supported eliminating pre-existing conditions, covering kids to age 26, preventing insurance companies from dropping people from coverage, equalizing premiums for all (women, age) -- all the items the Democrats now are taking credit for. That's why they were put in place immediately. So, you would be sold you got something for nothing. The other thing the Democrats never fully laid out is "what it would cost you". You were lead to believe all this would be free. Well, there's no such thing as a free lunch. I've been in healthcare for 35 years, and there is no way you can extend all this coverage without adding costs. And as with any product, when the costs go up, the price goes up. So, again, middle class America will pay directly through premiums or indirectly through TAXES. You are sadly misinformed.

Another Obamacare issue that has never really been discussed is: Unionization .
I have never believed that Obama and the Democrats were really concerned about the uninsured in this county. Why, because they knew that if you show up at an emergency room you cannot be denied medical care -- and yes, it does raise costs. But if you remember, the unions were owed big time by Obama for helping him into office. The unions have lost how many industries in this country -- steel, auto, textile, etc. Ask yourself this, what industry is predominantly union-free and cannot be outsourced -- healthcare. You will now see union organization attempts throughout the country to unionize millions of healthcare workers -- from the entry level jobs, technicians, and yes even your doctors, and surgeons, etc. that you believe cannot be unionized. Well, if they are not management and an employee of a hospital, emergency care, doctor's offices, etc., they can be. And then the unions will want forced dues. Why do you think, Obama has been so adamant about challenging the "right to work" state laws? Well, let's see how much you like Obamacare, when your union healthcare provider says that's not in my job description -- and doesn't give a care about your care!!! Look at what has happened to the quality outcomes in our schools. Well, it will come to healthcare!!! Get out and vote in November to replace Obama and the Democrats!!!

Still amazed at how some very angry people are complaining about a means to provide health insurance across the board...or at least further across the board than before. Uninsured people add greatly to health care costs because they go to emergency rooms and are covered by the hospital at great cost instead of going to a primary care doctor in the first place before the situation got out of control.
Ironically when Rick Santorum was asked why he gave so little to charity, despite being a millionaire, his response was his special needs child could not get health insurance and his costs for medical care were very high. What does the GOP think non-millionaires do? I guess either people just do without, and die, or they are covered under some other program. In any event, having insurance to cover medical needs is a far more efficient way than what we do now. Would be even more efficient of course if medicare has simply been expanded and took the profit margin costs out of the program.
