City Council Recap: Residential Building Permits Strong, Alcohol Ordinance and Annexation Pass Unanimously

They coincide with the recovery taking place in much of the Southeast

Last night Mauldin City Council met and much of the news was good, particularly from a business standpoint.

Building Director Peter Nomikos reported a steady stream of residential building permits. Nomikos told Mauldin Patch that the residential building in Mauldin is in keep with a larger trend nationally. Where the Northeast and Western parts of the country have struggled to recover from the burst of the housing bubble—and in some cases, fallen even further—the Southeast has bounced back.

“In Mauldin, we’re still not at the volume we were at in 2008 and certainly not in 2006, but we are picking up,” Nomikos said. Nomikos also said there is potentially a shortage of lots for residential building.
