UPDATE : Body Found off Woodruff Road Was a Suicide

Was located near Langston Charter Middle School

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said today that the person who was found yesterday afternoon by two Langston Charter Middle School students died as a result of suicide.

Dill said the white male in his 40s had tied a ligature around a maple tree and positioned his body in such so as to have the effect of a hanging. His family has been notified of his death and said that the man had been faced with a number of issues.

A pair of brothers in their early teens leaving the school found the male around 3 p.m., according to Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill.*

Authorities say the brothers came across the body while waiting for a ride home. The brothers initially mistook the body for a Halloween-related prank, and then went back inside the school to inform school officials, who then came outside. The boys are doing fine according to Lt. Tim Ridgeway of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

The cause of death has not been determined, but an autopsy has been scheduled.
