Obit: The Rev. Casey James Childs II, of Mauldin

Former pastor died Friday at his home.

The Reverend Casey James Childs II, age 65 of 116 Wood Creek Road in Mauldin, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home. 

He was a native of Oklahoma and a son of Eula Tubbs Childs and the late Casey James Childs I. He was the pastor of the Greater Zion AME Church in Awendaw, South Carolina and the former pastor of the Mt Carmel AME Church, Gray Court, SC; Mt. Lebanon AME Church, Due West, SC; Poplar Springs AME Church, Laurens, SC; Bethel AME Church, Anderson, SC and Friendship AME Church, Clinton, SC. He was a member of the Palmetto Annual Conference, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and a member of the NAACP. 

He is survived by his wife, Lois Maxwell Childs of the home; his mother, Eula Tubbs Childs of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers, Michael Childs and Kenneth Childs both of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Carol Childs of San Francisco, CA.

A memorial service will be held 1pm Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at the Greater Zion AME Church, Awendaw, SC with Bishop Richard Franklin Norris and presiding Elder Juenarrl Keith officiating. Public viewing will be from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Beasley Funeral Home Inc., 205 Knight Street, Fountain Inn, SC. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Avery Chapel AME Church, Oklahoma City, OK with the Reverend Preston Jones, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, OK, with the McKay-Davis Funeral Home 1616 NE 36th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in charge of arrangements.

The family is at the home.
