Update: Rep. Gowdy to Salute Kangaroo Express Employees

In a public event, Congressman Trey Gowdy will honor those who have helped raised nearly $500,000 to benefit the troops.

Updated Wed., Aug. 22: Due to an unexpected family issue, Congressman Gowdy had to reschedule his visit to Kangaroo Express. It will now be on Friday, Aug. 31 at 11:45am, according to a staff member.

Original story: Rep. Trey Gowdy will give an honorary salute to Kangaroo Express employees in Spartanburg on Tuesday, Aug. 28 for their role in helping to raise money for the Salute Our Troops fundraising campaign.

The public event will take place at noon at the Kangaroo Express at 2050 South Pine St. in Spartanburg.

Halfway through, the campaign had already raised more than $2 million for the USO, Wounded Warrior Project and five state-based military support organizations, including the South Carolina Military Family Care Association.

South Carolina alone had raised over $480,000, twice the amount that was raised at the same point last year.

Gowdy will commend the employees for their steadfast commitment to request donations throughout the summer. Customers will be able to donate to Salute Our Troops at any Kangaroo Express location through Labor Day.
