Nearly 7,300 people landed jobs with the help of Goodwill Industries of the Upstate/Midlands last fiscal year, the nonprofit charity reported.
That number is up 20 percent from the previous fiscal year, which ended June 30, Crystal Hardesty, Goodwill’s local spokesperson, told The Greenville News.
The previous fiscal year, Goodwill offered direct employment placement assistance to 6,102 people. Those services created an economic impact on the community of over $99.6 million through the wages of people Goodwill placed into employment.
This coming year, the 7,300 people who gained employment will provide an estimated $123 million impact, Goodwill said.
Goodwill Industries of the Upstate/Midlands, based in Greenville, helps job seekers throughout the Upstste and Midlands though a variety of programs and services funded through the sales of donated items sold in Goodwill stores throughout the region.
