Viva Les Divas Show Coming to Mauldin

Talented duo and multi-instrumentalist Dale Burke will tackle several musical genres at April 20 show at the Mauldin Cultural Center.

Viva Les Divas, the new collaboration between Greenville jazz staples Whitney Walters and Jean Calvert, comes to the Mauldin Cultural Center on Saturday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Calvert and Walters have teamed up to bring the Upstate this new collaboration celebrating their immense talents and the music they love, said MCC executive director George Patrick McLeer.

"Both have successfully fronted their own bands in Upstate South Carolina for years and now have a joining of minds and are raising their voices loud and clear, delivering the jazz and blues standards known as the American Songbook, interspersed with some history and personal commentary," McLeer said

Working in concert with director/arranger/composer/pianist/trumpet player/flugelhorn player, Dale Burke, each singer selects great tunes that run the gamut — swing, blues, Latin, ballad. Dale then writes arrangements in just the right key for the singers and parts for all six instruments to create a true big band sound.

The concert will be in the Mauldin Cultural Center's Auditorium located at 101 East Butler Road. Tickets are $20/person and can be purchased on the Mauldin Cultural Center's website, www.mauldinculturalcenter.org, or by calling (864) 335-4862.
