Hey Mauldin: 5 Things To Do This Weekend

Vintage military planes, Boo at the Zoo, campy celluloid sleaze, and much more await you.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Then check out these local diversions in our area.

Friday, Oct. 26:

1. View American military aviation history up close and personal…. Starting Friday, the “Wings of Freedom Tour” will land at the Greenville Downtown Airport. They will depart on Sunday, October 28. This is a rare opportunity to visit, explore, and learn more about these unique and rare treasures of U.S. aviation history

The Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” WWII Heavy Bomber and North American P-51C Mustang “Betty Jane” are the sole remaining examples of their type flying in the World. The vintage Boeing B-17 “Flying Fortress” is one of only 11 in flying condition in the United States.

"These historic planes are quite rare and we are lucky that they have chosen to come to Greenville,” stated Tim Bishop, Director of Museum Development for the Upcountry History Museum.

2. Another reason to go to the Zoo besides baby giraffe Kiko…. Boo at the Zoo will conclude this weekend at the Greenville Zoo. On Friday, the fun runs from 5:30-8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 4-8 p.m. The event features trick-or-treating, fun-filled booths, and an un-haunted house for the wee ones in your family.

Tix available at the zoo office or admission booth. Adult zoo members are admitted free, and $4 for their children. Non-member adults pay $3 and children tickets are $6. The zoo will provide special bags for children to collect treats (do not bring your own bags, sacks or plastic pumpkin containers).

NOTE: If you or your family plan to go and dress up in costume, that would be a perfect opportunity to shoot a photo and submit IT in Patch's Halloween costume contest!
