5 Things To Do This Weekend

It might look like rain, but there's plenty to do this weekend for those who need to get out and have some fun.

1. Looking to get out of town for some fun? Then head to downtown Greer for the 29th Annual Village Hospital Greer Family Fest, which runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today in Greer's central business district. The free event will feature live music, including performances by local American Idol alum Dylan Arms and The Marshall Tucker Band. There will also be cooking demonstrations done by Plate 108 and the Culinard/Virginia College.

More than 150 vendors will also be on hand for the event. For the kids there will be numerous activities, including free arts and crafts stations, rides and games. The event will go on, rain or shine.

2. The 26th annual Horse Show & Family Fun Day, sponsored by the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce, will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. May 4 at Berry Woods Farm, near Bryson Ford and Abercrombie roads. The event will feature inflatable playgrounds, games, concessions and vendors. Admission is $5 with children 12 and younger admitted free.

3. Sippin’ in Simpsonville will be from 6-9 p.m. May 4 on Main Street. Wines will be featured from City Scapes, Victoria Falls and Enoree River. Tickets are at participating tasting locations. 4. The Iron Horse, a miniature train replica of an early vintage steam locomotive, is in operation from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. Sundays at Heritage Park, 868 S.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Tickets are $2; children under 2 admitted free. Call 864-967-9533.

5. Bluegrass is featured Saturday nights at Owings Music Hall. Come experience some great music in a cozy setting. To get there, the music hall is located in Owings/Gray Court, about 20 miles south of Greenville. Exit 19 off I-385 to Hwy 14, then go a mile south to the caution light and hang a right.
