Escort for Traveling Veterans Memorial in Mauldin Today

Begins at Sunset Park at 1 p.m.

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute, a portable scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will be on public display in the TD Bank Convention Center starting tomorrow at noon and continuing through Saturday evening.

Before arriving at the convention center, the Tribute will receive an official motorcycle escort beginning at Sunset Park in Mauldin today at 1 p.m. Once the Tribute arrives at the convention center, there will be an official dedication ceremony at 2:30 p.m.

NOTE: Accompanying map shows escort route, which begins at Sunset Park. The procession travels to West Butler Road and continues to South Pleasantburg Drive where it will make a right. The procession stays on Pleasantburg until arrive at TD Bank Convention Center.

The project is sponsored by Heritage Funeral Home in Simpsonville and the Nashville Connection – Heroes Salute. One of Heritage’s co-owners, Andy Byrd said, “We are proud to support the Nashville Connection-Heroes Salute as we thank and honor our Vietnam Veterans with this traveling tribute.”

Proceeds from the four-day multimedia event benefit a number of local charities supporting veterans, including the Welcome Home veterans’ shelter in Spartanburg, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and Honor Flights of the Upstate.
