Construction Workers Busy With New Middle School

After weeks of incessant rain, the CU-ICAR campus was a hive of activity Thursday as construction crews worked on the new Dr. Phinizze J. Fisher Middle School.

Crews were busy completing the metal framing on the innovative school, which district officials envision becoming a model for other public STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) schools in the state to emulate.

In addition, district officials also expect the school to ease overcrowding in Mauldin and surrounding area schools when it opens in August 2014.
