Chicora Alley Adding Live Music, Special Deals

In addition, kids eat free on Saturdays, and the popular eatery is starting new low-priced daily lunch specials.

Chicora Alley's flagship restaurant in Greenville is known for great live music in addition to great food. Now, live music is coming to its Mauldin location on Main Street.

Live music will start this Saturday.

In addition to the live music, kids eat free all day on Saturdays during the remainder of summer, and starting Tuesday, Aug. 6, Chicora will be starting new daily lunch specials, which will be a meal and drink and tax for a flat $7.50, owner Bert Dixon told Patch.

"On Saturday night Aug. 3 we have scheduled a single acoustic act — John Martin — a popular guy in the Greenville band scene," Dixon told Patch.  He will be set up outside in our back yard weather permitting. If it is too hot or raining he will be inside."

Dixon said the restaurant will continue to have live music every Saturday. Bands will be posted a week in advance on the restaurant's Facebook page.

"We are also scheduling an open mic," Dixon said. "It will be called, 'One Man and a Mic.'  We will be using this to attract new acts for our regionally famous downtown [Greenville] stage."

The first open-mic is scheduled for September 14. Anyone can show up to play, Dixon said, but performers can also reserve a spot by emailing chicoramauldin@gmail.com.
