Nathan Leupp had been planning the Take Our Country Back 2012 Rally for two months, so he could not have known that a shot in the arm is precisely what Palmetto State conservatives needed.

With Pres. Barack Obama starting to build a lead in polls, and with rival Mitt Romney taking what even many in his own party believe was an ill-conceived swipe at Obama’s Middle East strategy, conservatives were looking for a boost.

Leupp said he hoped the rally would energize conservatives in South Carolina to pitch in for the cause in swing states like Florida, Virginia, Ohio and, of course, neighboring North Carolina.

While the crowd outside the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville was significantly smaller than the original “Take Back” rally in 2009, it did not want for enthusiasm thanks to a powerful roster of speakers, featuring Sen. Jim DeMint, Reps. Tim Scott, Mick Mulvaney, Trey Gowdy and Jeff Duncan as well as State Attorney General Alan Wilson.

During his remarks, Wilson, who has been arguing for South Carolina’s Voter ID Laws in a Washington courtroom in recent weeks, told the crowd that he would also be challenging the constitutionality of the Dodd-Frank Bill. Dodd-Frank was passed in the summer of 2010 in response to the recession that many believe originated from unregulated Wall Street activities.

If excessive government intrusion was a major theme at Take Back Our Country 2012, it shared billing with relentless criticism of Obama, specifically his “failure to lead” as speakers and attendees put it.

Duncan even brought out an empty chair a la Clint Eastwood to hammer home the point.

These tea-party politicians do no want us -- the people -- to have these rights.

The point is...the President is not a Muslim.
Other points: Being a Muslim is not illegal. If an elected official were Muslim, that would not require the Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings. As an example, Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota is a Muslim. He has not been impeached, nor will he be on the basis of his religion.
These are facts. To dispute them is to cause the value of your opinion to be diminished.
The statement that Gov. Haley "is as divisive a figure that South Carolina has seen" did not appear in a news story and is clearly my opinion. Still, if you can prove that she is not, I'd be interested to hear the facts that prove this.

All I got to say about this is that this state has been Republican controlled for how many years and unemployment is sky high? Sounds like the Republicans are a much better choice (for Energy Guy that is irony)
The US Congress is Republican controlled and you got the Republican Leaders saying their number one agenda is not to fix the job situation but to work at making sure the President is not re-elected. (again Energy Guy some more Irony)
Not to mention that Pat "go beat your wife" Robertson supporting Romney. (Yes a very fine Christian you got there)
Not to mention you have Romney for abortion before he was against it, for gay marriage before he was against it, for Health Care for all with a fine if you didn't opt in that magically paid for abortions before he was against it, and finally the wreck he left MA in after he left (blows any argument for fiscal responsibility ehhh Energy Guy)
Finally, you got Romney not telling you how he is going to raise military spending, give the rich a much needed tax break, and him talking out of the wrong hole when it comes to events in the Middle East. In fact Fox news (since you like to quote them so much) pressed his staff to see what tax exemptions he was going to eliminate and the Romney camp refused to answer it. Hmm.....I wonder who I am going to vote for (Energy Guy - It ain't the Mormon)

prices picked off a chart...so not exact...but close enough to indicate presidents have little to do with the price of gas...certainly cherry picking snapshots in time is useless and misleading...

LOL- Ok Bob - Gas Prices are not what I worry about when they pay $8 to $9 per gallon overseas - and that isn't recent. When we served in Germany in the 1980s we paid over $5 a gallon when gas prices here were under $1...

you have to know better...tho increased gas price hurt po folks mo the rich folks...it not is not a tax anymore than the price increase in collard greens and black eye peas...now/but;

what is the same as a tax increase, for po folks, are cuts to safety net programs...ie, these cuts decrease their already pitiful disposable income (but let them eat cake)...as do tax increases decrease rich folks abundant disposable income (but they need car elevators)...

so guess GOPs, in essence, say no more tax increases except on po folks...

You see folks - some of us actually go into Thomas to see what our Congressmen are doing. While I might not agree with Congressman Scott - he still is supposed to work for the people who pay his salary. I expect him to go up to Washington and work (and I mean work) with Congress and the President. Working together means talking and compromise. It appears that the bills that Tim Scott puts through service business. When you take off duties the money has to come from somewhere else - our pocketbooks.
Again, I don't expect folks to agree with everything I say - and I certainly wont agree with everything you say - but we can't always be wrong - nor can you.
We need an open debate without hate and birther nonsense. Guess what folks - stop watching MSNBC or FOX and start reading Thomas and see what your Congress is doing - you would be shocked and maybe learn why we are in the mess we are in

not sure martinbob's point...but the chart i saw did show (after the record hi) gas prices bottomed at $1.60/gal in the last month or two of W's term (2008)...

also not sure where martinbob got his info re gas prices and recessions...but based on most of his information bet it's taken out of context...to say the least.

OTOH

it seems demand would be less in a recession...thus prices may go down...sad there are no one handed economists.

my bottom line/opine (and other's): NO way BO, W, geo washington, abe...any president can control gas price...

well/but OTOH-otoh a release from the strategic reserve could reduce gas prices...ditto if a president controlled the speculators

25% of this "national debt" isnt government debt - it's yours, mine, your company's.

This information is garbage - $9.5 trillion of our debt came from Reagan/Bush/Bush, and you (like other GOP, including Tim Scott) are trying to dump the blame elsewhere, and even adding to it with made-up figures and irrelevant information.

This flawed method of computation is like saying you owe $200,000 on a house - but overlooking that you have that $200,000 value as an asset, too.
