Kim Hamel has been hired as Mauldin's new Business and Development Services Director, city officials announced.

Hamel comes from Asheville with 15 years of public-service employment where she served as the Planning Services & Technical Review Manager for the City of Asheville's One Stop Shop Development Center.   

Hamel has an extensive background in zoning and land-use planning, as well as project management & development review. 

As the new director, Hamel will oversee an office with a host of functions, which include business license administration, building plan reviews, new construction inspections, and business development and relocation.

Kim was acknowledged by her peers and customers for her collaborative approach to development review and ability to implement a number of process improvements that helped streamline the permitting & review process, the city's announcement said.
