Mauldin Officials Move to Repeal $45 Trash Fee

Newly sworn officials waste little time in attacking key campaign issue.

The newly elected city council members in Mauldin wasted little time in addressing the single most critical issue of the campaign that saw them unseat three incumbents. During the first committee meeting of the new year, Larry Goodson, , proposed that the be removed from the 2012-2013 budget.

City Administrator Trey Eubanks told Mauldin Patch that he plans on developing a budget without the fee. That process should begin March, Eubanks said.

Both Goodson and Scott Crosby, in November, said removing the trash fee is their first priority. Once that is assured, Goodson and Crosby will look to for ways to refund the fee that Mauldin residents paid this year.

Eubanks said he plans on working to make that a reality also.

In other news, the city council announced the formation of the Building Codes Committee, which will be chaired by Crosby and include Goodson, councilman Dale Black, Eubanks and Peter Nomikos, the Building and Zoning Department Head.
