Heat Possible Cause in Death of Easley Woman
Temperatures above 100 throughout region causing health and safety issues.
An elderly woman has died in an Easley nursing home according to WSPA.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said that the air conditioning in one of the three wings at Majesty Health & Rehab was not functioning when the woman collapsed on Saturday. The victim was taken to Baptist Easley Hoispital, where she died.
She would have been 85 tomorrow. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Kelley says an elderly woman collapsed Saturday inside the Majestly Health & Rehab of Easley and was taken to Baptist Easley Hospital where she died. Kelley says the air conditioning in two of the three wings were working but the third wing air conditioner was not working properly.

My Lord! That is inexcusable!!! Call a repairman ASAP you guys own several homes and should have one on speed dial! What is wrong with you people????

I agree with Sharmin McWhorter. To the Nursing Home: This is a disgrace. If you couldn't get an AC repairman, for goodness sakes, you could have called the Fire Department to help move those residents to a wing that did have AC working. Did you not at least put in fans and have someone checking to see that they had plenty of water and were not suffering from dehydration or heat exhaustion? I would not want a family member of mine in your nursing home. You should be sued!

I agree totally. They could have moved beds to the cafeteria or even the halls in the wings that had AC. They should not only be sued, but should face ciminal charges.
